Lee Dorsey “O Me-O, My-O”

Another song that pacified Sylvan when he was younger, this great tune from Lee Dorsey lumbers like an elephant in old cartoons, and the sing-a-long po-faced chorus (with collaborator Allen Toussaint!) has helped us through many a whiny time in the car. One of many high points on the classic Yes We Can album from 1970, my favorite part of the song is the outro where Lee drops this bit of knowledge: “Nothing beats a fail but a try.” Always looking on the brighter side, those musician types.
