ELVIS record release at Trailer Space


Fun show at Trailer Space tonight, nice to be able to see a good show before midnight, and for free!


First up was The Nouns, a promising local band with a good singer and skill on the strings, but a little timid with songwriting. By that I mean a lot of their songs were basic good time rock and roll chords and structures. They’re pretty good at that, but I preferred their “emo” style, a bit more menacing.


ELVIS was great as ever. They definitely have the menacing reverbed rock sound down, with a few straightup punk ravers thrown in. Brian worked the crowd and got sweat on lots of bodies, sneering and pouting at the audience between dancing. I’m more impressed by the band than ever, recording the new album Crime Of The Scene has definitely paid off onstage. I listened to the record as soon as I got home, it sounds much clearer than their previous recordings and the live show, it’s great on first listen.  Here’s a “I Don’t Care”, recorded on my phone:
